Keanu Reeves plays an extra-terrestrial being named Clatu in the new film, The Day the Earth Stood Still. He comes to Earth in a giant sphere to save the planet from its most destructive inhabitants, the human race. Clatu plans to ferry the animals of earth to a safe location while the planet is rid of all human structures. A memorable scene in the movie, is the introduction of Clatu and the giant indestructible autamaton he brought with him, which would later be used for the mass destruction. Keanu Reeves’ dark and ominous acting was perfect for the role; unfortunately, the movie itself did not amount to anything more than mediocrity. Most of the suspenseful, on-the-edge moments of the movie had easily predictable outcomes. However, one good lesson could be taken from the film and that is the theme of sustainability and the need for humans to be more conservative. This is not a film recommended to all moviegoers, but a movie exclusively for students, unsustainable people, and Keanu Reeves fans.
