The film 'Twelve' directed by Joel Schumacher is a drama based on the novel by Nick McDonell which was published in 2010 with main actors like Chace Crawford (White Mike), Emma Roberts (Molly) and 50 Cent (Lionel). The movie deals with teenage problems and drug addiction on the Upper East Side.
I think the movie is better presented than the novel because it is easy to watch and understand because of the narrator who tells a lot about the main character White Mike and what happens during the film and because the film is devided in week days from Christmas to New Year's Eve.
In addition the movie is very realistic. I like that it shows the real situation of some teenagers in New York, the costumes are realistic and also the drug deals so you can easily follow the movie. Also the director chose many different film devices which make everything more realistic.
Furthermore it is interesting that there are many different characters. First it is a bit comlicated to understand who is who and who is shown at which moment but during the movie you get to know more about the main characters and so it gets easier to see and understand the different stories and problems of the different characters.
Unfortunately there is a negative aspect. The story is not that exciting and a bit one-sided. There are just a few different themes and the end is too obvious, so the story could be a bit more exciting but then it would be more difficult to understand and follow.
So all in all I liked watching the film and I would watch it again because the director has done a great job and it is not that bad that the end is not presented exciting.
